Tips to keeping your balcony in style

Apartment-living is quite common these days. If you live in one and you feel as though you are missing out on having your own garden or courtyard to relax in, never fear for there are ways for you to spruce up that balcony and turn it into your personal haven.

First things first, decide what purpose your balcony will serve. This will help you determine early on what furniture you would need to buy and put there. There are lots of nice dining settings that come in different shapes and sizes, just make sure you pick one that would leave enough leg room and ample space to move around in.

However, if you wish to dedicate the space for lounging and relaxing, go for outdoor lounge or armchairs. Remember to buy weatherproof furniture, or those that have detachable and washable fittings.

Second, decorate the space with your own mini-garden. The amount of room you have will determine how big or how small your pots need to be. When choosing plants, consider the amount of sunlight exposure the plants will get on the portion of the balcony you will be placing them in. Since maintaining a garden requires some amount of obligation and responsibility, it is up to you whether to go big on this one or not.

Finally, add a big mirror to brighten the space up and make it look bigger instantly. If you have enough space, swap that mirror for some art. There are plenty of affordable but classy art pieces you can find for your balcony, so feel free to choose one according to your taste.
