Quick Ideas for Your 2016 Business Planning

business plan

How do you plan to take your business forward in 2016? The incoming year is a time to regain focus and adopt new strategies that would prevent you from slipping into old habits and falling into the same old routine.

Here are a few ways to stay focused and let bad old habits die before 2016 arrives.

Keep in touch

Before the New Year starts, look back on all the people or prospects you’ve done business with as well others who have become part of your network. Thanks to the Internet, social media, and other technologically-enhanced communication tools, it’s now easy to keep in touch and build bigger and better relationships with others. Staying in touch with contacts can help you grow your business as you receive more work coming in.

Recognise good customers

Not every customer is a good customer. Sometimes it’s necessary to let go of bad ones in order to devote more attention to building more good ones. Losing one or two small clients who do not fit your requirements is an acceptable sacrifice if it means being able to focus on the good ones.

Identify successes

Even if you’ve had a bad year, there will always be some highlights in it. Look back and try to remember your high points in 2015. Then, think about what you did or what strategy you used to reach that point. Perhaps it’s something you can carry over to 2016 and repeat the success.

Identify failures

The same goes for failures – make note of all your disappointments this past year and what caused them. Take them as learning experiences and recognise the lessons so you will not end up repeating them again next year.

Put ideas into action

Another year means another chance at introducing new strategies and putting them into action. Awesome ideas you’ve had in the past but you’ve yet to implement need to be revived and considered for 2016. It’s the perfect time to put them to the test and take action.

Running your own business is by no means easy, but it’s one of the most rewarding experiences you can ever have in your lifetime. Make the most of it and enjoy the ride.
