Melbourne Tops Liveable Rank for Six Years Straight

Melbourne back at it again as the most liveable city for the sixth straight year!

And according to Lord Mayor Robert Doyle, citizens of Melbourne should be proud and rightfully so, as being held as the most liveable city – with 140 cities participating – is no easy feat, all the more topping it not one, not two, but six times in a row.

Mayor Doyle said, “We do not take this title for granted and are constantly planning and implementing policies that will continue to improve our quality of life,”

He also added, “It is an exciting time in Melbourne: We’ve got many major infrastructure projects under way, including the Metro Tunnel, and the proposed renewal of the Queen Victoria Market precinct.”

As the city continues to boom, it’s now being held as a prime area to start a new business or even buy an existing business, with many Melbourne business brokers  getting numerous calls from potential investors and would-be buyers.

However, Deputy Mayor Susan Riley, despite being proud of what Melbourne achieved, said that the city still has a long way to go and added that they can still make some improvements by planting more trees and better footpaths for both pedestrians and cyclists.

Moreover, although topping again as the most liveable city, Melbourne still has a lot of issues that it has to address like its growing homeless population.

In fact, its local residents are beginning to take notice and clamoured that the local government is not doing enough to combat homelessness.

One woman even shouted, “It’s disgusting,” while also saying that it can potentially hurt the city’s tourist reputation.

The woman said, “Can you imagine what it’s like for tourists? They come from overseas and see people sleeping in the streets. Melbourne should be ashamed of itself.”

Then again, although it’s far from perfect, the city is still experiencing an all time high – signalling good news for business brokers in Melbourne.
