Stepladder

Missing a night table? Make your own bedside table by taking an old stepladder and “upcycling” it. You can even put your mobile phone on the steps so you don’t have to keep it under your pillow while you sleep. It’s not much space-wise, but it makes a truly unique accent piece for your bedroom.

Picture frame

Are you constantly littering your house with little scraps of paper where you scribble your to-do lists on a daily basis? Get yourself organised by creating your own DIY memo board using your ordinary photo frame. Just frame a nice scrap of fabric with a pretty pattern, or even old wallpaper, and hang it up or leave it to stand where you can easily see and reach it. Get yourself a nice dry-erase marker and you’re ready to write those errands on the glass. You may even do some ribbon work to attach the marker to the frame for easy access.

If you’re always misplacing your keys, you may also convert your picture frame into a very useful key holder. Simply remove the glass, cover the back part with paper, fabric, or paint, attach hooks, and hang. Easy!

Jars

Attach the lid of each jar onto the underside of your shelf and you’ve got yourself an instant floating storage that does not take up even an inch of shelf space.

Tension rods

The cabinets under the kitchen or bathroom sink are usually the most cluttered because it serves as a storage space for household cleaners. Keep spray bottles, rags, work gloves, etc. organised by securing a tension rod in the cabinet and hanging frequently used items there. Beats having to scour the entire cabinet to find what you’re looking for, doesn’t it?
