How to Declutter Your Small Home Office

We live in an era where flexible work arrangements are quickly becoming the norm. It comes as no surprise that more and more buyers are now looking at a property for sale Australia with a dedicated or available space for a home office.

Sellers who have the luxury to provide an area that will serve such a function have an advantage. Leverage that edge to add value to your property by decluttering your small home office. Read on to get smart ideas on how to create a clean and functional space to attract potential buyers.

For easy reference, here is a quick overview of our decluttering tips:

  1. Hide the unsightly wires
  2. Use covered containers
  3. Depersonalise the office
  4. Categorise and label items
  5. Keep the desk tidy

Hide cables and wires. You may use wicker baskets for this purpose. You can also cleverly stick those wires beneath tables or cabinets.

Use storage bins with a cover or cabinets with doors. They do more than keep your things clean. They can likewise add to the aesthetic appeal of your interiors. These organisers provide a neat way to keep unsightly items out of sight.

Depersonalise the space. Remove any trace of your personality in the property. It is crucial to help your prospective buyers picture themselves living in that home.

Group items by category and label them. This time-saving strategy makes it easier to look for anything one might need. Putting things in their right place helps maintain order in the space.

Clear the desk. Limit the number of items there to a minimum. The absence of clutter helps give the impression that you are on top of things. A tidy desk also helps reduce stress levels.

Decluttering helps put your property in a good light. A clean and organised space can help serve as proof of your property’s great value. If you need help in selling your property faster, feel free to contact us by phone: 03 9226 9222, fax: 03 9078 6315 or email: info@nationalbrokers.com.au.
